IACS Awards and Symposia (as of July 30, 2026)
Nominations for the named awards by the International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences are sought by the members of the academy and other cardiovascular scientists. These nominations are reviewed by the Awards Committee and top candidates for each award are selected and submitted to the Council of the International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences for voting, and the candidates are selected for an award if received 75% or above YES from the Council.
- Medal of Merit: This highest honor of the Academy is bestowed for outstanding Achievements in Cardiovascular Education and Research
- Naranjan Dhalla Award for Innovation in Cardiovascular Sciences
- Howard Morgan Award for Distinguished Achievements in Cardiovascular Research
- Distinguished Service in Cardiovascular Science, Medicine & Surgery Award
- Distinguished Leadership Award
- Lifetime Achievement Award
- James Willerson Award for Excellence in Cardiovascular Medicine
- Amarjit Arneja Distinguished Lecture Award for Prevention of Heart Disease
- Paul Ganguly Award for Excellence in Cardiovascular Sciences
- Howard Morgan Award for Distinguished Achievements in Cardiovascular Research
- Suresh Tyagi Award for Distinction in Cardiovascular Research
- Grant Pierce Award for Outstanding Service in Cardiovascular Physiology & Pharmacology
- Jawahar Lal Mehta Award for Excellence in Clinical Cardiovascular Research
Roberto Bolli MD, Distinguished Young Scientist Award
Recognizing the most meritorious young cardiovascular scientists and future scientific leaders. Five finalists will compete at the 13th Annual Meeting of the North American Section of the International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences (IACS-NAS) in Louisville, Kentucky on September 10-12, 2026.
1st Place: $25,000 • 2nd Place: $10,000 • 3rd, 4th, and 5th Place: $5,000 each
Eligibility: Postdoctoral Research Fellows, Medical Residents, Clinical Cardiology Fellows, and Faculty members within the first 5 years of academic appointment at the time of the IACS-NAS meeting
Investigators working in basic, translational, and clinical research are eligible
The competition is open to applicants from all over the world.
Buddhadeb Dawn Graduate Student Award Session
Graduate students, including clinical residents, are invited to submit abstracts. The local scientific committee appointed by the Conference Chair(s) review all abstracts and select the top 4 abstracts. Other abstracts that are not selected for the presentation are assigned for regular poster presentation. The selected presenters are paid complimentary registration and 3-nights hotel accommodation and local hospitality. The appointed judges of this session listen each talk and select one presentation for the award.

The conference participants are invited to submit abstract for poster presentations. The local scientific committee appointed by the Conference Chair(s) review all abstracts and advise on the science for poster presentation. The selected posters will be placed on assigned poster board number for display throughout the conference. However, the primary presenter of each poster is expected to be present at the poster during an assigned time when the appointed judge(s) of the poster session and conference delegates come by the posters. The primary presenter is expected to present a brief overview (3-5 minutes) of the research work and answer questions of the judges and conference delegates. Judges score each abstract and top 8 abstracts are selected for Morris Karmazyn poster award and for the Margaret Moffat poster award.
